Smoke control, fire warning, fire-system monitoring and lightning protection perform different functions, but each must be coordinated with the architecture, power supplies, ventilation, fire alarm and the building's safety cause-and-effect.
Smoke control and evacuation
Smoke extraction removes smoke from defined zones while pressure differential systems protect stairs, lift shafts and other escape routes. Warning systems provide visual, audible or voice instructions. The design defines activation sequences, power, status monitoring and fire-alarm interfaces.
Fire-system monitoring
Fire protection monitoring collects subsystem states, displays events at the operator workstation and maintains an event log. The signal matrix defines priorities, acknowledgements, commands and communication-loss responses. Integrated testing follows the event from field device to operator display.
Building lightning protection
Lightning protection includes risk assessment, air-termination and down-conductor systems, earthing, equipotential bonding and surge protection. Design and installation cost depends on building geometry and use, roof construction, connected services and the required protection level.
