Sounders, visual indicators and voice notification are activated by the approved cause-and-effect logic and coordinated with evacuation and smoke-control systems.
Addressable or conventional architecture is selected for scale, zoning, event location, cause-and-effect and maintenance. Detector type follows the expected fire signature, height, airflow, dust, steam and temperature.
Device locations are coordinated with ceilings, lighting, ventilation, beams and storage. Compliance must include safe physical access for testing and replacement.
Warning may include visual signs, sounders and voice alarms. Type, zoning, activation sequence, messages and sound levels follow building characteristics, occupants, ambient noise and evacuation strategy.
The fire alarm issues commands to interfaced systems through an agreed cause-and-effect. Integrated testing follows the chain from detector activation to warning, controls, status transmission and event logging.
Before installation, routes, fire-resistant circuits, equipment positions and interfaces are coordinated. Afterwards, circuits, addressing, standby power, fault monitoring and programming are verified against the design.
Testing covers devices, open- and short-circuit monitoring, standby supply, warning and every agreed interface. Handover includes test records, settings, as-built drawings and user briefing as agreed.
